"After the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, Althorp became one of the best known stately homes in the United Kingdom. For years the House and Grounds had been well known to connoisseurs on account its exquisite art collection and beautiful setting but now the House was known to millions across the World, principally as the burial place of the most famous woman of the 20th century. In 1997 six million people applied in one day to visit the Estate! After 1997 we struggled on in the pitiless media spotlight to come to terms with this transformation and at times the challenge seemed almost insurmountable. It was only when - with the advice of Brand Architects - we began to understand the Estate in the context of the brands that it manages or is influenced by, that we were finally able to map a sustainable way forward. The process was little short of a revelation and changed forever the way in which we approached our business."
